With its enchanting gardens, colorful painted Georgian houses along Rainbow Row, blue-green waters, and horse-drawn carriages clacking across cobblestone streets, Charleston will captivate your heart with a hold that cannot be broken. On my very first visit, I was caught off guard, seduced, and remain forever fascinated.  

Hospitality is alive along these hallowed streets. History echoes through 18th-century homes along the Battery where legendary oaks adorned with Spanish moss stand tall.  Charleston roots run deep into history on a peninsula flanked by the Great Ashley and Cooper Rivers.  But underneath its easy charm, a dynamic food scene reflects its English, French, and West African roots.  

This is a city where food and history are inseparable. One can trace the long, complex history of one of America’s oldest and most vibrant cities through its signature dishes. Its unique culinary style was created by turning to the past and embracing the food found in South Carolina’s Lowcountry for centuries.
