The Peoples Bank at the foot of the bridge in Beaufort, SC

Have you ever wondered where “The People’s Bank” of Beaufort was located? Maybe you’re new here and never heard about it. It was near the foot of the bridge in the 700 block of Bay Street. The historic clock in this picture now sits at the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park entryway.

(It looks like the car out front is a 1959 Ford Galaxy.)

The original clock in front of the People’s Bank now guards the entrance to the Waterfront Park.
